Connection

I am watching my Cat drink water from a glass. He puts his paw in first to test it to make sure it is in fact liquid. He does not believe his eyes. He touches it and then puts his paw in again. He then proceeds to drink. He comes to me. I am the one who feeds him and gives him water.

It is amazing how all creatures need water. I feel so connected today to the animals and the earth. I amazed at all creation today. It tickles me that Cat trusts me enough to come so close and better yet allows me to shift the glass so that he can drink from it.

We have a connection. Even though we are not able to communicate in words, I feel there are universal behaviors that all mammals posses. Children are not born with the ability to speak at once. They learn to trust us as their caregivers. We help them with their basic needs. A bond is formed. They hear our voices and begin to speak.

It amazes me when I think of how magnificent the world is and how valuable life really is. We all can create a connection with others and other creatures. We have the capacity to do this. Some may be better at it than others. Like anything else it takes practice to hone in on the cues that others are giving us. It is really important when making a connection with children. They can pick up on our subtle cues.
