Out for a Roll

My kids love to be active. I make it a point to get them doing something besides sitting down and watching TV. I am not perfect. I don’t always get them involved. Today, my daughter wanted to get on her skates and join me. It was great.

She knew exactly what to do. She has been skating for a few years. She would see a bump in the sidewalk and knew she had to act fast. She knew that she had to go over it, around it, or step over it.

I was proud of her for being so aware. She did fall down. Then she got right back up. She said she was okay. I tried not to make a big deal about falling and getting hurt. After she fell, she seemed to be good.

It made my day to see how resilient she is. It also enforced some beliefs that I had forgotten. To live a rich life you have to do what you love. For me, it is spending time with my kids. Even if we go out for a roll. It made me smile to spend some time with my daughter and to see how much she has grown in so many ways. I got to pause and take some time to spend with her. Also, that it is so important to get back up when you fall.
