Unexpected Moments

There are moments that you take you by surprise. We just had one of those. It was in a good way. My dog got into a bag of chips. The dog’s entire head was in the bag. She was trying to get the chips. The bag was bigger than her muzzle. She was obviously upset. She could not see and she knew that others were around. She was guarding her food. If she were human, she may not have understood why we broke out in laughter. We took the bag off her head and she managed to get her head stuck in the back again. We laughed some more.

For a moment we forgot about all of the other pressing issues and laughed together as a family. We forgot that lunch was waiting for us. We forgot that we wanted to clean up the house before the new year. It transported us. We were truly in the moment without a care. It was truly unexpected.

We did not have to go anywhere for that to happen. We were living in the moment. Sometimes those are the best moments. I try to find my little areas in life to smile. We did that together as a family. Often times people get bogged down in the monotony of life. We can choose not to let that overwhelm us and smile anyway. We can cherish the unexpected moments and smile.
