Our family loves to watch movies. We like to go to the Movie Theatre every once in a while. We get ideas from movies. We have fun watching movies. I make sure my kids know that they are not real, except for movies about Santa Claus. I let them believe in Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Childhood can be wonderful. I do let them know about harsh realities.
It is not easy to tell them that their favorite cat did not come back or that they can only have one toy because, we will save up for something else and Santa is coming soon. Having fun memories is important. When there are truths that have to be told, we let them know. Holding back is not an option. Being truthful is what matters. However, I do let them have the magical innocence of childhood.
I think that is why some of us adults like movies. We can go back to the innocence of childhood and have some magical fun. We can escape for just a little while. We do have a choice as to what we watch. We do have to be careful. If we watch the good things and the good things come out, we can benefit. Watching movies can be great for all.
