The kids are so independent. They make their own meals. They get their own snacks. However, they still need me. When things go wrong they need both of us. I am grateful they make it home each day. They need a little goading to get their homework done. They need reminding to submit the papers that are due that day.
I inform them that I will not always be around and they will have to figure it out. I don’t always rush in to help them. They may struggle with something like their homework. I tell them to work on it and then come to me. It does them no good for me to figure out their homework.
If they can’t figure it out, I give them hints. I want them to have the discipline, thinking, and order that can go a long way to helping them succeed in their future endeavors. The may like their independence, but they know they need my guidance right now. I am sure they will figure out how to be successful by watching us.
