Routine

At night the kids don’t want to go to bed. They are so happy to spend time with me. They love to talk to me. They want to read a book. They are getting ready for the next day. I teach them to brush their teeth. I teach them to say their prayers. It has to be consistent each night.

Some nights we do other activities so it interrupts our routine. As a parent it is up to me to teach them that they must be consistent in doing the activities. I have to stay on them to do what is needed.

I don’t like being the micromanager. It is necessary for the kids. It is my job as a parent to make sure they do what is required. They know how to take care of themselves. They are independent in some ways. They need my guidance until it sticks. I have to get them in a routine so the habits will stay with them.
