I just had lunch with a friend. I listened to her tell me the story of some of the people she knew. I sat and listened patiently. I realized she was confessing some mistakes she had made. She was sharing some small things. To her it might have felt like big things. In retrospect we all make little errors here and there. We are human. Show me a person who does not make any mistakes, and I will show you someone who has never really lived.
Her mistakes were all in hindsight. No one can predict the future. You can only learn from what happened and move on. Looking back on some things that happened, that seemed insurmountable, were only little bumps in the road in the grand scheme of things. Raising kids can seem like it is a never ending chore. When you look at the overall big picture, you will see your hard work and sacrifice making a difference in their lives. Kids learn from the small things and take that to tackle the big things. Small gestures and acts can add up over time to create beautiful memories.
