Worth it

My son and I had to make some sacrifices to take a trip. I had to get the time off and save up for the airfare. He mowed lawns to make the trip and missed two days of school. He worked on weekends and some days after school to earn the money. He earned enough for discounted airfare. The lesson we taught him was that if he wants to get something he needs to work towards a goal. There were other lessons. Keeping track of his income and expenses is something he learned he needs to keep records of.

Attending the event was an experience for my son. He learned to challenge himself. At first I was afraid that some of the topics were way over his head. Being board is a common occurrence. He became engaged. I went over some of the lessons with him. Keeping up with his education is crucial. Taking this trip had lots of benefits. We spent time one on one. Navigating in a new place and exploring new territories is fun. Getting lost in the woods and going for a hike is worth it.
