Find a Need and Fill it

I just talked to a friend. I went to church today. The message was clear today. Find a need and fill it. Such a simple message. Today’s project is to do just that. She mentioned that there are local shelters that need basic toiletries and also her church has a food pantry. I talked to my kids today about what I wanted to do. This is so crucial. They really understood. They asked, “Those people don’t have a house? That is so sad.” The gravity of it hit them. At this very moment they feel the weight of that statement. I thought that they should know what I want to accomplish. They can hold me accountable and they will be grateful for what they do have.

Also, they were just outside in some cool weather and were glad to come inside after a few hours. They also did not ask for anything for themselves from the store. They know I want to help someone else, and that they could also help others. When I told them some people don’t have underwear, they really got it. It is so simple and basic. Most people need underwear. This piece can help them retain their dignity. Having dignity is a basic human right. If I can help others retain their dignity, then that is a great need to fill.
