Just a Hot Cocoa

When was the last time you had a hot cocoa and just sat an listened to someone else? There may have been tears. They may have had a tantrum. They might have had a bad day. They may be strong people on the outside. You never know what someone else is going through.

I sat and listened to a friend. I only wanted a hot cocoa. She would have gladly shared the rest of her meal. She is a giving, warm-hearted person who has been through a lot. My conclusion is that she is being tested in her faith. She is a hard working woman. She has lots of responsibilities. She wants more out of life. Going to school and bettering herself is important to her. There are obstacles. Being a private person, she did not want to overshare. I felt honored that she wanted to share with me.  I got to mentor her. It was more than I expected. There was trust there. I made sure she knew I could be trusted. It was more than a hot cocoa. Those moments you share with someone, when they need you to just listen, especially our children is just priceless. It is so important to just slow down and sip your hot cocoa.
