I own a dragon

That is something you don’t hear every day. Yes, I own a dragon. He is a small one. Okay, he is a bearded dragon. I take care of him.

My son wanted a snake, but I cannot handle snakes. We settled for the bearded dragon. They are pretty docile and easy-going. It is new for us. The dragon is new to our home.

He is getting acclimated to our house. He is in a new location. He seems happy and content. He is a little less active than we expected today.

He had a bath today. My kids thought he was dead after his bath, because he went to sleep right after his bath. He curled up in the corner. This new adventure tired him out. Luckily we had the prior owners tank and accessories. He was familiar with the tank, but not our home and the barking dog.

In life we have to go to a new place and it might seem scary. Some familiar surroundings give us comfort. It is great to ease on out of what is familiar. Some of us may take longer to get acclimated like the bearded dragon.

Owning a bearded dragon, is definitely outside of my familiar zone. With a little preparation and planning, we will be well acquainted.
